PublicaciĆ³n The work reception of Vincent De Beauvais in Spain(['Instituto TeolĆ³gico "San Pedro de AlcĆ”ntara"', 'Universidad de Extremadura'], 2014-01-01) Vergara Ciordia, Francisco Javier; Comella GutiĆ©rrez, BeatrizIt seems that biography and extensive work of the French Dominican Vincent of Beauvais has been poorly disseminated in Spain until very recently. However, in the archives and libraries of our country there are at least 19 manuscripts and 90 (65 incunabula of them) printed works are located, according to the Collective Catalogue of the Spanish Bibliographic Heritage. Historiography shows that influence of Beauvais in our country, between the 13th and 20th centuries, is greater than what until now had been studied. Through these pages it is evident that the number of works preserved Beauvais is important, but the fact that his work and thought, united with the previous classical and Christian tradition, is powerful in many Hispanic authors from the XIII century to today.PublicaciĆ³n Education of the young according to the humanist, Johann Funger(Elsevier, 2011-01-01) Comella GutiĆ©rrez, BeatrizJohann Funger is a Dutch renaissance scholar, author of āThe Correct Training and Education of the Youngā, published in Antwerp (Belgium) by Christoffel Plantin in 1584. The original Latin text has recently been translated into Spanish and consists of thirty chapters. He holds a PhD in History of Education at the University of Navarra (1986), also with Honours. He is currently Professor in the Department of History of Education and Comparative Education at the National University of Distance Education in Madrid (UNED) and Visiting Professor at the University of Navarra. Was Fellow Researcher Institutum Historicum Societatis Iesu in Rome (IHSI) and since 2005 Director of the Group of Medieval and Renaissance Studies (GEMYR). This study shows not only political but also cultural relations, of Navarre with France and Castile. It is situated in the context of contributions to the history of late medieval Education, published under the direction of Prof. Vergara Ciordia by the Group for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (GEMYR), which is based in the Faculty of Education at UNED.PublicaciĆ³n Social psychology at the Royal School of St Elizabeth in Madrid(Elsevier, 2011-01-01) Comella GutiĆ©rrez, BeatrizThis paper presents the major ideas on social psychology at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th at the Royal School of St Elizabeth (Real Colegio de Santa Isabel) in Madrid. First of all, the school reflects the different social strata: pupils from the upper and lower classes. Secondly, within the framework of a predominantly Christian culture, the interest in universal education was manifested in providing free education to the more disadvantaged pupils in Madrid at that time. It was a society that respected the social strata, projecting differential psychology of diverse characteristics depending on the social class. The pupils from the upper class received the type of education that reflected their social status, while the curriculum for the lower class reflected their own social status. Se abordan dos grandes temas: la opinionum censura y la nostrorum librorum censura. Se estudian cinco frentes documentales: las Observanda circa usum librorum prohibitorum del P. Mercuriano (1575), el breve Exponi nobis del papa Gregorio XIII (1575), el Ā«Procedimiento que los censores de Roma observarĆ”n para examinar los librosĀ» [Quae a romanis censoribus observari oportet in censendis libris], aprobado por el P. Acquaviva en 1601, las Regulae Revisorum generalium contempladas en el decreto XI de la X CongregaciĆ³n General (1652) y el anĆ”lisis de diferentes decretos sobre censura planteados en las Congregaciones Generales de los siglos xvii y xviii. He studied at the Collegium Trilingue, Leuven and in Cologne. He was a doctor of both (civil and canon) laws, but especially, a teacher at the Latin Grammar Schools in his native Frisia. He was an admirer of Cicero, Seneca and Quintilian, disciple of Agricola and Erasmus, Melanchthon and Calvin. He is the author of 16 works, most of which were on philology and were published in the Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy. This paper analyzes a pedagogical treatise: "De puerorum disciplina et recta educatione liber" ("Book on the Discipline and Right Education of Young Boys", 1584) published by Plantin Press, Antwerp.PublicaciĆ³n The Madrid Royal Schools of St. Elisabeth and Loreto according Constitutions of 1715 and 1718(Universidad de Salamanca, 2012-01-01) Comella GutiĆ©rrez, BeatrizLos Reales Colegios de Santa Isabel y Loreto de Madrid para niƱas huĆ©rfanas fueron fundados por Felipe II a finales del siglo XVI. Ambas instituciones siguen funcionando en la actualidad como centros educativos catĆ³licos mixtos y concertados. Los dos fueron patronatos reales pertenecientes a la jurisdicciĆ³n eclesiĆ”stica de Palacio. Se han conservado las Constituciones de ambos aprobadas bajo el reinado de Felipe V. Aunque los Colegios tienen una historia paralela, la citada normativa es muy diferente para cada instituciĆ³n; segĆŗn las Constituciones, Santa Isabel y Loreto tienen mĆ”s aspectos diferenciadores que comunes.PublicaciĆ³n "De puerorum disciplina et recta educatione liber"(Universidad de Salamanca, 2012-01-01) Comella GutiĆ©rrez, BeatrizJuan Fungerio nace Leeuwarden en 1546 y muere en Franeker en 1612. Estamos ante uno de los humanistas holandeses mĆ”s importantes de su tiempo. Autor prolĆfico de obras de poesĆa: "Carminum Sylva" (1585) y de filologĆa: "Nova proverbiorum farrago" (1585), tuvo una honda preocupaciĆ³n pedagĆ³gica que le llevĆ³ a escribir "De puerorum disciplina et recta educatione liber" [La correcta formaciĆ³n y educaciĆ³n de los jĆ³venes], editada en Amberes (BĆ©lgica) por CristĆ³bal Plantino en 1584. El original latino ha sido traducido al castellano para este volumen por el Grupo de Estudios Medievales y Renacentistas (GEMYR). La obra, dividida en treinta capĆtulos, estĆ” escrita en un inmejorable latĆn renacentista, propio de un consumado maestro de gramĆ”tica que maneja con brillantez el mejor latĆn ciceroniano. EstĆ” dedicada a los benefactores holandeses que han pagado su ediciĆ³n y merecen alabanza por su filantropĆa y su benevolencia hacia los alumnos de las Musas. Los temas tratados no son originales, son los propios de los maestros renacentistas de su tiempo: importancia de la educaciĆ³n, necesidad de una educaciĆ³n literaria temprana, importancia de la educaciĆ³n familiar, de buenos maestros, de formaciĆ³n moral, religiosa, literaria, etc. Temas todos fundamentados en el magisterio y ejemplo de los autores clĆ”sicos.
