Abstract
Este trabajo constituye un estudio que compara y analiza tres posturas filosóficas centrada en los artefactos técnicos en el ámbito de la filosofía de la tecnología. El objetivo de este trabajo será conocer cuál de las tres es más fiel a la realidad sobre los artefactos técnicos. Estas posturas son: el esencialismo funcionalista de Lynne Rudder Baker, el intencionalismo de Amy Lynn Thomasson y, por último, la teoría híbrida, formada por la teoría ICE de Vermaas y Houkes junto con la teoría de la doble naturaleza de Kroes y Meijers. Estas teorías buscan una caracterización filosófica de los artefactos técnicos a través del concepto de función que tiene un papel central en el ámbito de los artefactos técnicos. Para finalizar la comparación, las teorías son aplicadas a tres casos arqueológicos que ayuden de manera práctica a comparar y confrontar las ideas de todos los autores. Esta parte práctica terminará por sacar a la luz los aspectos más problemáticos del esencialismo funcionalista de Baker, el intencionalismo de Thomasson y la postura híbrida de Vermaas, Houkes, Meijers y Kroes.
This work constitutes a study that compares and analyzes three philosophical positions focused on technical artifacts in the field of philosophy of technology. The objective of this work will be to know which of the three is more faithful to reality on technical artifacts. These positions are: the functionalist essentialism of Lynne Rudder Baker, the intentionalism of Amy Lynn Thomasson and, finally, the hybrid theory, formed by the ICE theory of Vermaas and Houkes together with the double nature theory of Kroes and Meijers. These theories seek a philosophical characterization of technical artifacts through the concept of function that has a central role in the field of technical artifacts. To finish the comparison, the theories are applied to three archaeological cases that help in a practical way to compare and confront the ideas of all the authors. This practical part will end up bringing to light the most problematic aspects of Baker's functionalist essentialism, Thomasson's intentionalism and the hybrid position of Vermaas, Houkes, Meijers and Kroes.
