The purpose of this study is, firstly, revising the main features of literature during the Rennaissance, different trends and styles, mainly in Europe, particularly in poetry, highlighting its characteristics. Secondly, after having seen the most important authors of English literature in this period and some of their works, courtly poets such as Wyatt and Surrey with a new style and other great poets such as Spenser, Sidney and Shakespeare, we have analysed how the Italian authors such as Dante and Petrarca had influenced on their production, both form and thematic. As far as concerned the form, we have mentioned the sonnet and the blank verse as the new trends that came from Italy and were adopted by many authors, English and Spanish too.
