Resumen
O trabalho consiste em avaliar a usinabilidade de dois aços de livre corte ao sulfeto de manganês: (i) com adição de chumbo e bismuto (MnS+PbBi) e (ii) com adição de bismuto (MnS+Bi). Os materiais foram caracterizados quanto à microestrutura e dureza. Ensaios de torneamento foram executados variando o avanço em: 0,1; 0,2 e 0,3 mm/volta. Os índices de usinabilidade avaliados foram a força de usinagem (FU) e a rugosidade (Ra). Os materiais não apresentaram diferença significativa na resposta de FU a partir de 0,2 mm/volta. A adição somente de Bi aumentou a resposta de FU em 106% em comparação ao aço MnS+PbBi para 0,1 mm/volta. Ra foi influenciado pelo avanço aumentando a resposta proporcionalmente. O Aço MnS+Bi pode ser promissor em operações de desbaste, uma vez que não foi evidenciada diferença significativa entre os materiais na resposta Ra e em FU para avanços a partir de 0,2 mm/volta.
This work aims to evaluate the machinability of two manganese sulfide free-cutting steels: (i) with lead and bismuth addition (MnS+PbBi), and (ii) with bismuth addition (MnS+Bi). These materials were characterized regarding microstructure and hardness. Turning tests were carried out varying feed rate in 0.1; 0.2; and 0.3 mm/rev. Cutting force and roughness (Ra) were the machinability indexes assessed. No significant difference was evidenced between materials on FU response from 0.2 mm/rev. Adding Bi alone increased the FU response by 106% compared to MnS+PbBi steel to 0.1 mm/rev. Ra was influenced by feed rate increasing the response proportionally. MnS+Bi cutting free steel may be promising in rough turning, since no significant difference was evidenced between materials on Ra response and FU response from 0.2 mm/rev.
