The objective of the program of activities based on the Montessori methodology for older adults with cognitive impairment is to demonstrate the importance of such interventions in promoting well-being and achieving a higher quality of life in their immediate environment. This working methodology falls within what is known as non-pharmacological therapies, which are proposed as alternative techniques to work with people with cognitive impairment and to foster the well-being and quality of life of both the users and their caregivers by reducing and combining the use of medications. It is a methodology that strengthens the quality of life for older adults with cognitive impairment and is based on an approach that prioritizes personal autonomy and considers the immediate context to promote the overall well-being of older adults. This work consists of a theoretical framework, which analyzes: the Montessori methodology aimed at older adults, non-pharmacological therapies, and their relationship with cognitive impairment in the context of an aging population. All of this is done with the aim of analyzing how such interventions can influence the improvement of the well-being and quality of life of older adults; and a second part that explains the implementation of a project of this type with a study group of five older adults with moderate cognitive impairment from the Alzheimer Association of the town of Barbastro.
