A new family of functional adhesives based on thermosetting polymers with adaptable covalent networks, also called vitrimers, is presented in this work. Thanks to the chemical and mechanical properties, the adhesives obtained are reversible, capable of being re-formed, reprocessed, recycled, and/or re-used simply through adequate temperature control and without destroying the joined materials (substrates). In addition, to promote their industrial use, they are obtained from commercial monomers (DGEBA and thiols with different functionality such as S4 and S6); they have glass transition temperatures far enough from the Tamb but moderate to allow curing that does not affect the substrate. The exchange activation temperatures are also controlled in order to avoid creep at use temperatures. Finally, other functional properties, such as the Shape Memory Effect and the self-welding capacity, are analyzed.
