Psychological well-being, family attachment, self-esteem, and resilience are constructs of great interest in personal development. Better psychological well-being is positively related to improved mental health and quality of life, particularly for vulnerable populations, especially adolescents immersed in situations of violence. The general objective of this study was to analyze the socio-educational situation and the factors associated with the psychological well-being of school-aged adolescents exposed to armed conflict conditions in Colombia. This quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive, correlational, and predictive study presents a sample of school adolescents aged between 14 and 19 years (n=494, M age =15.20, SD=1.17; 58.1% were female). The results confirmed the high degree of perceived impact of the armed conflict among adolescents in Colombia, as well as significant gender- and age-based differences in dimensions of attachment, self-esteem, and well-being. Positive associations were found between the variables of family attachment, self-esteem, resilience, and psychological well- being among school adolescents. Furthermore, it was evidenced that family attachment (particularly security), self-esteem, and resilience predict some of the different factors of psychological well-being in students exposed to the Colombian armed conflict. In conclusion, psychological well-being, family attachment, self-esteem, and resilience improve the mental health and quality of life of rural adolescents affected by and living near the armed conflict in Colombia. These findings highlight the need to implement socio- educational programs that enhance these constructs as protective factors for vulnerable populations.
