Abstract
A gastric simulator was developed which allows carrying out the analysis of chemical disintegration of foods and nutritional products, as well as the analysis of drug dissolution under conditions very similar to those found in the human gastric process in the distal region. The in vitro distal gastric simulator was fabricated by means of additive manufacture. It consists of soft membranes that simulate the gastric walls that allow movement to be generated in a way that is close to the physiological behavior. In order to evaluate the dissolution capacity of drugs in the gastric simulator, prednisone was used, which is a verification standard in dissolution tests approved by the United States Pharmacopeia (USP). The results were compared to one of the USP approved devices. The results obtained allowed the dissolution analysis to be carried out in conditions that were much more realistic and closer to the human process compared to the device proposed by USP.
