“Between France and Mexico” is the title what we have decided to give to this study in order to explain the nature of this collection which ended up divided between two countries. lt is, in our opinion, one of the most interesting collections in Mexico during the decades between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. lts creator was Louis Eychenne, a collector and patron who is largely unknown in the Spanish historiography. As all great collectors, admirers and patrons of the arts, Louis' biography intersects with the lives of some of the most famous people of his time, both Mexican and international, and especially during the first three decades of the 20th century.
