Hannah Arendt maintained a difficult balance between Zionism and her Jewishness throughout her life. In the years after Hitler's rise to power she committed herself to the Zionist cause, but her influences on what it meant for her to be Jewish - not to renounce it, not to hide, not to be ashamed - made her understand the two types of Jews that could be found. On the one hand the conscious outcast, on the other the upstart. The influence of Jewish intellectuals on his life and work is enormous. Many of them convinced Zionists, others against that movement. Hannah Arendt reflected on the creation of the State of Israel. The considerations presented by the philosopher and politician are very enlightening. We can understand the current situation in that part of the world, the one most affected by wars and migrations; we can find out why Jews themselves were divided over how they should deal with the partition with the Arab Palestinians and understand that part of the Jewish population was always ready to use the Shoah as a justification for certain behaviour, such as deciphering the tragic attack on Yitzhak Rabin: its cause, its consequences and the historical implications that created it.
