dc.description.abstractEl artículo profundiza en el papel del patrimonio cultural y del arte contemporáneo en la apertura de vías de comunicación en la zona fronteriza en que convergen dos estados miembros de la UE, Francia y Alemania, y Suiza, estado que no forma parte de la UE pero que sí está integrado en el Acuerdo Schengen (puesto en cuestión en 2014 mediante referéndum). En un momento de crisis de la identidad comunitaria y de naufragio del proyecto de adhesión de Suiza a la UE, algunas instituciones de esta zona utilizan el patrimonio cultural como oportunidad de cohesión, como demuestran diversas iniciativas integradas en la IBA Basel 2010- 2020. Entre ellas destaca el 24-Stop Walk de Tobias Rehberger, un camino desarollado por iniciativa de la Fundación Beyeler (Riehen, Suiza) y el Campus de Vitra (Weil am Rhein, Alemania). Una experiencia única rodeada de naturaleza y arte que aporta un nuevo significado y valor añadido al territorio y a la experiencia de caminar. Se mencionan también otros ejemplos como Art Basel, la feria de arte contemporáneo más importante del mundo, con eventos transfronterizos más allá de la ciudad de Basileaes
dc.description.abstractThe article delves into the role of cultural heritage and contemporary art in the providing of communication channels in the border area where two EU member states, France and Germany, converge with Switzerland, a state that is not part of the EU but is integrated into the Schengen Agreement (questioned in 2014 by referendum). In a moment of crisis of the communitarian identity and of shipwreck of the project of adhesion of Switzerland to the EU, some institutions of this area use the cultural heritage as a cohesion opportunity. IBA Basel 2010-2020 is a good example of this policy. These include the 24-Stop Walk by Tobias Rehberger, a path developed on the initiative of the Beyeler Foundation (Riehen, Switzerland) and the Vitra Campus (Weil am Rhein, Germany). A unique experience surrounded by nature and art that brings a new meaning and added value to the territory and the experience of walking. Other examples are also mentioned, such as Art Basel, the most important contemporary art fair in the world, with cross-border events beyond the city of Baselen
