Resumen
The European Union, greatly through its European Green Deal, is promoting a new economy based on a circular model which main goal is to become climate-neutral by 2050. Nevertheless, regarding the current trends of energy consumption and GHG emissions of the construction sector and buildings’ lifecycle, the EU will not achieve its goal without integrating these sectors as a cornerstone of its ambitious plan. Based on the previous information, the hypothesis of the Master’s Thesis deals with determine the value or contribution of the sustainable construction to the European Green Deal and the circular economy. The goal of the Master’s Thesis is to demonstrate that the hypothesis is correct. A research process, as objective as possible, will be developed. The conclusions of that research should be identical to the ones that any other researcher would reach if he or she considered the same hypothesis and followed the same methodology. The methodology will be based on analysing each of the following three main topics (among others issues that will help to contextualise the whole work) and establishing relations between them: climate change data; responses to the climate change through sustainability policies (the EU environmental policy, the VIII Environment Action Programme, the European Green Deal and the circular economy) and the sustainable construction.
