Publicación An event-based adaptation of the relay feedback experiment for frequency response identification of stable processes(Elsevier, 2023-04-13) Sánchez Moreno, José; Torre Cubillo, Luis de la; Chacón Sombría, Jesús; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Elsevier; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-0898-3462An event-based modification of the classical relay feedback experiment without the inclusion of additional elements (integrator, time delay, . . . ) for identification of the spectrum of stable processes between zero and the phase cross-over frequency is presented. By inserting an event-based sampler in the control loop, the natural behaviour of a classical relay is simulated and the system is forced to work in two modes. The event-based sampler activates the first mode by sending control actions to the process every time the error signal crosses zero; this mode is to discover the approximated value of the cross-over frequency ω180◦ . During the second mode, the event-based sampler sends samples to the process simulating that the error signal crosses zero at ω180◦ /N where N is the number of points to identify in the range 0 ≤ ω ≤ ω180◦ . One advantage of this procedure is that the logic used in an already existing relay feedback experiment to fit a transfer function model or tune a controller could be maintained just replacing the relay block by the event-based sampler block presented in the paper. Simulations and experiments with different processes and in presence of noise demonstrate the effectivity of the procedure.Publicación Web-Based learning resources for vocational training for automation technicians(IFAC 2006, 2006-01-01) Vargas Oyarzún, Héctor; Dormido Bencomo, Sebastián; Farias Castro, Gonzalo Alberto; Esquembre Martínez, Francisco; Sánchez Moreno, José; Duro Carralero, Natividad; Dormido Canto, Raquel; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Farias, GonzaloPublicación Stability and Synchronization of Switched Multi-Rate Recurrent Neural Networks(IEEE, 2021) Ruiz, Victoria; Aranda Escolástico, Ernesto; Salt, Julián; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2993-7705; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-9640-2658Several designs of recurrent neural networks have been proposed in the literature involving different clock times. However, the stability and synchronization of this kind of system have not been studied. In this paper, we consider that each neuron or group of neurons of a switched recurrent neural network can have a different sampling period for its activation, which we call switched multi-rate recurrent neural networks, and we propose a dynamical model to describe it. Through Lyapunov methods, sufficient conditions are provided to guarantee the exponential stability of the network. Additionally, these results are extended to the synchronization problem of two identical networks, understanding the synchronization as the agreement of both of them in time. Numerical simulations are presented to validate the theoretical results. The proposed method might help to design more efficient and less computationally demanding neural networks.Publicación Easy Java Simulations: an Open-Source Tool to Develop Interactive Virtual Laboratories Using MATLAB/Simulink(TEMPUS Publications, The International Journal of Engineering Education: Especial issue on Matlab/Simulink in engineering education, 21, 5, 798-813, 2005, 2005-01-01) Esquembre Martínez, Francisco; Dormido Bencomo, Sebastián; Sánchez Moreno, José; Martín Villalba, Carla; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Dormido Canto, Raquel; Pastor Vargas, Rafael; Urquía Moraleda, AlfonsoPublicación Modelado y simulación de un Hovercraft de radio control subactuado(Universidad de Castilla la Mancha, 2004-09-08) Hernández Cuesta, Carlos; Aranda Almansa, Joaquín; Díaz Martínez, José Manuel; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Muñoz Mansilla, María del RocíoPublicación Developing and Implementing Virtual and Remote Labs for Control Education: The UNED pilot experience(17th IFAC World Congress (IFAC'08) Seoul, Korea, July 6-11, 2008, 2008-07-06) Dormido Bencomo, Sebastián; Vargas Oyarzún, Héctor; Dormido Canto, Raquel; Duro Carralero, Natividad; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Morilla García, FernandoLast years, research efforts on the development of virtual and remote laboratories in control engineering education have been reported in many conferences, workshops and journals. However, it is observed that pilot experiences about the utilization of web-based laboratories are not habitual practices. In this paper it is described the pilot experience of the Department of Computer Science and Automatic Control of the Spanish University of Distance Learning (UNED) about the introduction of three webbased laboratories in a course on process control. This experience begins with descriptions of the tools employed to develop client and server-sides and the collaborative environment used to publish the labs in Internet. Attention is due to the concept of task protocol. It consists essentially of an ordered list of activities that students must execute in the virtual and remote mode of each one of the three web-based laboratories. To conclude, results of the pilot experience are given by means of evaluation questionnaires.Publicación INTERACTIVE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR DESIGN BY QFT METHODOLOGY(2001-01-01) Dormido Bencomo, Sebastián; Aranda Almansa, Joaquín; Díaz Martínez, José Manuel; Dormido Canto, SebastiánPublicación Heatflow: un laboratorio basado en web usando Easy JAva simulations y labview para el entrenamiento en técnicas de automatización(XII Latin-American Congress on Automatic Control , CD-ROM del Congreso, Salvador de Bahía (Brasil), october 2006, 2006-10-01) Vargas Oyarzún, Héctor; Dormido Bencomo, Sebastián; Canto Díez, María Antonia; Esquembre Martínez, Francisco; Dormido Canto, Raquel; Duro Carralero, Natividad; Sánchez Moreno, José; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Farias, GonzaloPublicación Control of a chain pendulum: A fuzzy logic approach(Taylor and Francis Group, 2016-02-12) Aranda Escolástico, Ernesto; Guinaldo Losada, María; Santos, Matilde; Dormido Canto, SebastiánIn this paper, we present a real application of computational intelligence. Fuzzy control of a non-linear rotary chain pendulum is proposed and implemented on real prototypes. The final aim is to obtain a larger region of attraction for the stabilization of this complex system, that is, a more robust controller. As it is well-known, fuzzy logic exploits the tolerance for imprecision, uncertainty and partial truth to achieve tractability, robustness and low solution cost when dealing with complex systems. In this case, the control strategy is based on a Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model of the strongly non-linear multivariable system. Simulation and experimental results on the real plant have been obtained and tested in a rotary inverted pendulum and in a double rotary inverted pendulum. They have been compared to other feedback control strategies such as Full State Feedback or Linear Quadratic Regulator with encouraging results. Fuzzy control allows to enlarge the stability region of control. Indeed, the region of attraction and therefore the stabilization has been enlarged up to over 17% for the real system.Publicación ENTORNO DE SIMULACIÓN INTERACTIVA PARA EL CONTROL(2007-11-13) Aranda Almansa, Joaquín; Dormido Canto, Sebastián; Muñoz Mansilla, María del Rocío; Chaos García, Dictino; Díaz Martínez, José Manuel
