This article is about the relationship between the biography and the process of construction of Spanish literary history in the 18th century. Starting from the rhetorical implications of biography and the lives of the author in Classical Age, it shows how author libraries, anthologies and histories of Spanish literature from the second half of the 18th century incorporate the news about the lives of the authors. The paper also shows historians consider these biographical materials.
