The aim of this article is to present several carving lines which have been observed on different fragments of marble, associated to the work and positioning process, conserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Tarragona. These fragments come from the upper part of the city, an area which was occupied by the Provincial Forum in the Roman times.
Beyond the number of the elements analysed, that is statistically insufficient to provide a sample of marble materials found in Tarragona, the peculiarities of the objects, that will be presented in this paper, focus the attention on an interesting aspect related to the making process of some typologies of ancient manufactured products and to the production of marble objects in Tarraco.
