For that, feminist postcolonial criticism is the most useful framework to bring to light texts which reproduce Western visions of the world, especially those which undercut racialised women. The present study looks closely at witchcraft in The Tempest and Bless Me, Ultima and explores how the author’s cultural and social context determines discourse and plays an essential role in the representation of female characters, events, and practices, in order to give the word bruja a new meaning.
