Desde el año 2007 hasta ahora, la Comisión Internacional de Estratigrafía (ICS), concretamente la Subcomisión de Estratigrafía del Cuaternario (SQS), ha trabajado en el establecimiento de los GSSP’s (Global Stratotype Section and Points) del Cuaternario así como en su propia definición. Por esta razón se ha decidido elaborar esta segunda versión de la Tabla, incluyendo todos los límites oficialmente ratificados así como las modificaciones y correcciones que han ido surgiendo, y la relación de referencias utilizadas. Las características de este trabajo, hace que consideremos esta Tabla como algo dinámico, en continua evolución, que nos permita ir introduciendo todos los nuevos datos que vayan obteniéndose.The first edition of the Chronostratigraphic Chart for the Quaternary of the Iberian Peninsula, was elaborated as part of the activities of the International Year of the Planet Earth, and was initially distributed during the XII Reunión Nacional de Cuaternario (AEQUA) hold in Ávila (June, 2007). However, since 2007 the International Commission on Stratigraphy (ICS), and more specifically the Subcommission on Quaternary Stratigraphy (SQS), has been working both in the definition of the Quaternary status and its subdivisions, based on GSSP’s (Global Stratotype Section and Points). That was the main reason we decided to reedit this Chart, including all those formally defined boundaries as well as all the modifications and corrections that have arisen since then, and the reference list.
