En esta investigación, se usaron documentos escritos y orales de CORDE, CREA, PRESEEA y CORPES XXI para dar ejemplos. También se menciona el leísmo de cortesía, que fue decayendo a lo largo de los siglos, mientras que la forma le en el español mexicano adquirió otro uso, diferente de la función de pronombre de objeto. Los datos indican que la mayoría de hablantes mexicanos de grandes ciudades no son leístas.Usted does not always respond to a courtesy or an asymmetric form. There is a primary and there are secondary uses of usted. The primary use is the basic pragmatic usage, the one to be recognized as a courtesy form with tag [+formal] and social status [X > Y]. However, there are contexts where the primary tag does not explain its real nature, since usted it’s used when a speaker is expressing anger and to address little children, the primary tagging system [+formal] must to be substituted by other secondary tags. In this investigation, written and oral documents from CORDE, CREA, PRESEEA and CORPES XXI were used to give examples. Also, we mention the leísmo de cortesía, which declined over the centuries, while the form le in Mexican Spanish acquired another usage, different from its object pronoun function.
