Ciudades como Alhucemas o Targuist se corresponden con periodos históricos y con necesidades estratégicas concretas de este periodo. Sus trazados urbanos debieron mucho a la implantación militar en el territorio, mientras que sus arquitecturas reflejan un interesante muestrario de estilos que oscilan entre el neoárabe y la arquitectura moderna, pasando por el interesante capítulo de la arquitectura rifeña.The central Rif region has some very unique characteristics in respect to architecture and urban development, based on findings carried out during the first half of the 20th century by both Spanish and Moroccan administrations. Towns such as Alhucemas and Targuist correspond to special historical Periods and to specific strategic needs from this period. Their layouts owed much to military establishments of the territory.
