Alonso seeks to explain the historiographical vacuum on the question and offers an alternative framework of interpretation. Moreover, he considers that the Spanish experience has many similarities with the cases of other European fascisms—Italy, Germany, Croatia—both in the perception of the war and its influence in the fascist project and in the way war was waged. Consequently, using this comparative perspective he suggests that the concept of fascist war is a viable analytical tool to understand the specificity of fascism in regard to war, both in its conception and in its implementation.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessCivil War, Total War, Fascist War: Rebel Violence and Occupation Policies in the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939)capítulo de libro
