Trabajo Fin de Grado. Universidad de Educación a Distancia (UNED)https://hdl.handle.net/20.500.14468/24099Effective communication plays a crucial role in understanding and addressing aviation incidents, especially those involving complex technical factors and safety implications. This research investigates the linguistic characteristics and thematic differences between specialized texts, such as accident reports and technical documents, and general texts, including news articles and public communications, related to aviation incidents involving Boeing Max aircraft. Through a corpus-based approach, the study examines terminology and phraseology used in both types of texts, focusing on accidents occurring between January 1st, 2018, and April 1st, 2024. The analysis reveals distinct patterns of communication of aviation incidents, with specialized texts emphasizing technical details and causal factors, while general texts prioritize human stories and emotional impact. Findings from this research provide insight into the communication practices regarding terminology and phraseology in the transmission of information on aviation, offering research applications for the development of crisis communication strategies, guidelines for journalism professionals, and public awareness campaigns. This project also stands as a starting point for further research on the terminology and phraseology structures, common in aviation linguistics from a syntactical perspective, and the development of AI text production tools in the field of aviationeninfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess55 Historia::5505 Ciencias auxiliares de la historia::5505.10 FilologíaComparative Analysis of Terminology and Phraseology used in Technical Reports and Media coverage of Boeing 737 – MAX incidents from 2018 to 2024proyecto fin de carreraaviation incidentsterminologyphraseologyBoeing MaxSpecialized and General Texts
