desaparecer completamente. El proyecto
y los trabajos de restauración le fueron
encargados al arquitecto Pedro Ponce de
León por el Ministerio de Cultura. El
presente estudio es fruto del encargo para
dicho proyecto. El 2006 terminaron los
trabajos de restauración y con ellos la
recuperación de un conjunto que estuvo a
punto de perderse definitivamente. Sus
restos preservados seguramente sirvan
In 2004, the Spanish Institute of Historical
Patrimony in collaboration with the town
council of Embid, agreed to address the
urgent need of restoration of the castle of
Embid. Its condition was such that was it
was threatened by ruin, much greater than
the one it endured after the northeast
tower came down in the 90’s. The tower of
the homage was about to disappear
entirely. The Ministry of Culture
commissioned the project and the
restoration to the architect Pedro Ponce
de Leon. This article is the result of the
commission for the project. In 2006 the
restoration ended and with it the recovery
of the whole set was about to disappear.
In the future its preserved remains would
probably provide more insight to an
incomplete episode.07362Perla, Antonio .
Next to Barbastro’s Cathedral, at the end
of the XVI century, was built the Palace
which would be the residence of its
Bishop. It was conceived following the
premises of the Aragon Renaissance
architecture but it has suffered several
changes through its history. The most
recent, financed by the Aragon
Government, started in 2006, and its aim
is to set it up for new and different uses,
like the location of the Diocese Museum,
which will house important religious art
pieces. This article studies the changes
and interventions suffered by the Palace
through its history and the social impact
caused by the last one. A series of
interviews carried out, allows us to state
that the opinion of the citizens from
Barbastro is quite positive regarding to the
restoration of the Palace, but it is
influenced by two aspects: the trial
between Barbastro’s Diocese with the
Diocese of Lerida due to the art pieces
and the significant economic investment
that this restoration would mean for the

medieval, renacentista, barroco y
contemporáneo español, lo cual conllevó a
su declaración como Monumento Nacional
desde el 4 de junio de 1931. Este artículo
incluye una mirada a su glorioso pasado,
a su incendio y destrucción acaecida el 11
de agosto de 1939, a su posterior
restauración y rehabilitación para
comprobar la puesta en valor de un
monumento único, y a su futuro para
proseguir en la tarea de recuperación con
su musealización e interpretación.Archiepiscopal Fortress is one of the most
important buildings in Alcala de Henares

This article provides a view of its glorious
