Several hundred faunal remains were discovered since 2005 in the Solutrean‘s level at Rochefort cave
(Mayenne, France). Reindeer and Horse are the main taxa identified and are the baseline of the Solutrean diet.
We present here the preliminary results of the faunal analysis and discuss the exploitation of these two main
taxa. A number of refits were possible. At the same time, the exceptional preservation of the artefacts together
with well-defined cut marks allows to reconstruct procurement and use patterns of these animals as
well as the season they were killed. Recently excavated and analysed Solutrean faunal assemblages are rare
which make the yet unreported Rochefort cave faunal assemblage even more important and unprecedented.05752Bemilli, Céline and Hinguant, Stéphan .
The vast Aterian civilization occupied the entire area of the modern Sahara, between the Nile, the
Senegal and the Maghreb during tens of thousands of years. Its tools are well known, which tend to become
smaller and lighter during the later phases in the Northwest (modern Morocco). Rigorously Paleolithic art is
now known from this period in Upper Egypt, dating prior to 23,000 BP (Huyge 2013). Its stylistic patterns are
identical to those of rare sites attributed to definitive Solutrean in Iberia, specifically when bifacial industries
arrived as the «Middle Solutrean». The Proto-Solutrean phases grouped under this term in fact belong
to Gravettian variants coming from Central Europe and were incorrectly interpreted. During its European
expansion, the Solutrean creates a clear break in the prehistory of Europe. Limited in its extremely western
part, it rapidly disappeared when the last Gravettians adopted ways of life and values leading to the expansion
and development of the Magdalenian.05662Otte, Marcel .
When we come to the issue of typically
nazi aesthetics, you can expect to have in
mind dreadful images of big parades,
youth meetings, massive speeches in the
open air and fanatic multitudes willing to
assault and destroy any enema at close
range. Unfortunately that’s not the pattern
we obtain out of the analyses either of the
aesthetic practices and materials or the
texts and statements made by the main
responsible agents of nazi aesthetic
production.
We shall see along this article how most of
the nazi aesthetic outcomes were closely
related to the production and stabilization
of such normal and sensible citizens as we
might be able to conceive of.06742Claramonte Arrufat, Jordi .
