posible, y citando ejemplos bien conocidos y no protegidos
por derechos de autor. This article argues that the key feature of
English free verse (FV) is that it employs more contrasts
and fewer matches between linguistic and metrical units
than does traditional verse. It traces the development
of FV from a number of older modes of versifying in
English, including phrasal metre (as in the Authorised
Version of the Bible), the dol’nik (as in English ballad
meter), free rhythms (as in Arnold’s Dover Beach), polymetric
verse (as in Dryden’s Alexander’s Feast), and regular
stress-syllabic verse. The article offers a list of principles
that composers of FV in English have observed,
quantifying wherever possible, and quoting well-known
examples that are not under copyright.05232<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Duffell, Martin J." href="/fez/list/author/Duffell, Martin J./">Duffell, Martin J.</a> .
This paper focuses on the metrical forms of Pablo
Neruda’s fi rst book, Crepusculario, and contains a complete repertory
of the metrical patterns used there. As a consequence of the close
attention to these forms we can conclude: fi rst, at the level of Literary
History, the tendency for traditional metrical patterns and their
experimental combination in Neruda’s early works and his avoiding
of the innovative avant-garde metrics of his time; and, second, at
the level of metrical theory, a demarcation of free verse, regular and
irregular versifi cation is suggested, so that free verse is not a kind of irregular verse, and regular verse can be divided into traditional
metrical forms and regular forms invented by the poet. Irregular verse
is not regular neither free verse.05562<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis" href="/fez/list/author/Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis/">Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis</a> .
Critics have, almost unanimously, considered “Espacio”,
by Juan Ramón Jiménez, as a prose poem which comes from
a previous version in free verse. This paper proves that the first
versions of the poem were not free verse and that there are evidences
that Juan Ramón wanted to maintain a rhythmical (even metrical)
reading in the prose version. We, therefore, have made a
metrical analysis of the verse texts and a detailed research of the
changes included by Juan Ramón in the prose text. The study of
these (sometimes minimal) changes leads us to conclude that Juan
Ramón wrote a text that is not completely prose, but it is neither
verse camouflaged in prose, according to his ideal of a total and
open poetry regardless of its outward form.04852<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis" href="/fez/list/author/Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis/">Luján Atienza, Ángel Luis</a> . identificación de unas formas métricas satíricas.
The free and personal character of the satire makes diffi
cult the identification of the metric satirical forms. Nevertheless, in
the classical Spanish theory the frequent use of the tercets, the quatrains
(redondillas) and the blank verse has been observed in satirical
compositions. A way of approaching the problem is to focus on
the burlesque style, and then there can be identified some metric features
that shape a jocose metrics. The end of the verse, for example,
is a privileged place for the manifestation of these features: jocular
rhymes, daring enjambements, echoes… Some forms like the sonnet
with estrambote or the ovillejo also would form a part of the jocose
metrics.04592<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Domínguez Caparrós, José" href="/fez/list/author/Domínguez Caparrós, José/">Domínguez Caparrós, José</a> . etapa poética (aproximadamente entre 1929-1940) presenta gran
Panero. The work of Leopoldo Panero written during his
first poetic phase (about 1929-1940) presents a wide range of formal
and stylistic variety. It is possible to notice clearly two distinct
trends: an avant-garde one, which is metrically characterized by
the use of free verse, and a more intimate poetry, closer to his later work,
which is associated with regular versification and the use
of traditional strophic forms. The analysis of his “Primeros poemas”
and “Versos al Guadarrama” may give an overview for these
two different forms of versification and the importance of metrics
in this poetic stage of Leopoldo Panero.05902<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Martínez Cantón, Clara Isabel" href="/fez/list/author/Martínez Cantón, Clara Isabel/">Martínez Cantón, Clara Isabel</a> . sostiene en su Prosodia Castellana y Versificación (1892, 3 vols.),
This article studies the theory that Eduardo Benot
sets out in his Prosodia Castellana y Versificación (1892, 3 vols.)
regarding “an entirely new metric system” that some of his poet
friends and he himself cultivated between 1883 and 1892. Benot
explains the rules for versifying with two- or three-syllable feet,
which are repeated throughout the length of the poem, thereby relegating
meter and rhyme to second place. In his desire to introduce
“variety” into Spanish poetry, the author defends this type of
accentual versification, which has medieval precedents and which
will culminate in free verse based on combinations of stressed and
unstressed syllables (versificación de cláusulas libre).05462<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Paraíso, Isabel" href="/fez/list/author/Paraíso, Isabel/">Paraíso, Isabel</a> . S. Eliot = Design and rhythm in T. S. Eliot’s “The Waste Land”bibliuned:revistaRHYTHMICA-2012-10-7010En este artículo se ofrece un detallado análisis estadístico
siglo XX, The Waste Land de T. S. Eliot.
This article offers a detailed statistical analysis of
the lines in one of the twentieth century’s most infl uential poems,
T. S. Eliot’s The Waste Land. It argues that the poem should be
classified as accentual free verse because the rhythms created by
the number and disposition of stress peaks, or beats, in its lines
are far more regular than those of English prose. The article shows
that the poem is polymetric, like the English odes of earlier centuries,
but Eliot’s polymetry is compositional rather than systematic.
Two line-lengths (accentual templates) account for more than 70
per cent of the lines in the poem, which divides into twenty-four
rhythmic sequences marked by design shift, a change of template
and/or correspondence rules (the size of the intervals between
beats).04762<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Duffell, Martin J." href="/fez/list/author/Duffell, Martin J./">Duffell, Martin J.</a> .
