The Response Factors (RF) method sets the base for related dynamic calculations implemented by most well-known Building Energy Simulation (BES) software, and it represents a research topic of present interest. In this regard, this work introduces a new method for calculating conduction Response Factors in building multilayer constructions, based on the definition of an approximated wall model through Frequency–Domain Spline Interpolation (FDSI) and asymptotic analysis. Its conceptual development as well as first validations comparing with existing methods from previous literature are presented. Finally, as a result of applying a table-lookup approach and the possibility of pre-calculating most of the involved operations, an accurate, fast and easy-to-code algorithm is obtained, which constitutes a promising alternative to improve the current state-of-art calculation procedures.0362Sanza Pérez, Javier, Chicote, Manuel Andrés, Varela, Fernando y Velasco Gómez, Eloy . Rapid extraction of carotenoids, capsaicinoids, and tocopherols was optimized; the best conditions included ethanol as the extractant, an extraction time of 10 min in an ultrasonic bath, and a sample size of 0.1 g. The procedure provided good precision with a relative standard deviation of 1.2% for four samples. Molecular absorption spectra were obtained from 250 to 600 nm and fluorescence excitation and emission spectra were collected from 200 to 295 nm and 300 to 400 nm, respectively. Forty-eight “Pimentón de La Vera” paprika samples and 19 samples from other origins were characterized. A principal component analysis model was constructed from the absorption spectra and clustering was obtained based on the origin. Parallel factor analysis was performed on the fluorescence data and better characterization of the origin was obtained.0312Monago Maraña, Olga, Bartolomé García, Teresa de Jesús, Galeano Díaz, Teresa y Kostrzewa-Rutkowska, Z. . The increased risk of developing this syndrome resulting from established modifiable risk factors, such as depressive episodes, is currently a subject of interest. The aim of this study was to review the scientific evidence that addresses the relationship between depression and dementia. A bibliographic search of the PubMed and PsycInfo databases for articles published over the past 20 years was conducted with the following medical subject heading terms: depression or depressive, dementia, and incidence or cohort studies. After articles meeting the inclusion criteria were selected, relevant moderating variables were grouped as sample characteristics, methodological characteristics, extrinsic characteristics, and outcome variables. The 26 selected studies resulted in a sample comprising 1,760,262 individuals. Statistical analysis revealed a pooled relative risk for the development of dementia of 1.82 (95% CI=1.62–2.06). The primary variables evaluated were the diagnostic methods for depression and dementia and the presence of depression. Other variables, such as mean age, methodological quality of each study, follow-up time, and publication year, were also evaluated. Age was statistically but not clinically significant. No relevant publication bias or alterations in the results were found when accounting for the quality of the studies. It is recommended that new moderating variables be evaluated or that existing variables be reformulated in future studies.0392Fernández Fernández, Roberto, Íbias, Javier y Maciá Antón, María Araceli . After a review of the academic literature on the role that the student’s reputation plays in community learning and to understand the role of involving the student that new techniques of gamification have taken in virtual learning, an empirical analysis is performed on the basis of data from a pioneer MOOC of Social Entrepreneurship (5016 registered students, 3250 of whom actually started). Using Classification and Regression Trees (CARTs) and Principal Component Analysis (PCA), we conclude that social reputation is a key factor for the student in successfully completing the course, and that the student’s retention is, along with his e-reputation (“karma”), directly related to his degree of participation, the rewards received, and his correspondence with peers. This shows that one of the factors that explain the student’s MOOC completion is his degree of interaction with other students, and particularly his reputation among them.0302Navío Marco, Julio y Solórzano García, Marta . The main goal of this research was to validate the Spanish version of the DFRSS (Sp-DFRSS) following the guidelines for cross-cultural adaptations. Three studies were conducted. In Study 1 (n = 151), an exploratory factor analysis using principal axis factoring and oblimin rotation was performed to examine the factor structure of the Sp-DFRSS. In Study 2 (n = 500), a confirmatory factor analysis showed that a two factor model (dyadic and familial) provided the best fit to the data. In Study 3 (n = 100), we examined relationship satisfaction using the Actor-Partner Interdependence Model. The Sp-DFRSS as a whole and its subscales presented adequate reliability in the three studies, with Cronbach’s alphas ranging from 0.87 to 0.95. Moreover, convergent and divergent validity of the Sp-DFRSS was analyzed in Studies 1, 2 and 3, and significant correlations between the Sp-DFRSS’ subscales, life satisfaction, negative and positive affect, attachment (anxiety and avoidance), and psychological well-being were found. The Sp-DFRSS has good psychometric properties in terms of validity and reliability, so that it may be used by the Spanish-speaking scientific community to measure relationship satisfaction.0332Magallares, Alejandro, Matera, Camilla, Recio, Patricia y Molero, Fernando . Mean RGB data, histograms, and matrices of RGB data were used to characterise the ripening stage of the plums, in both qualitative and quantitative approaches, by using classification and quantification chemometric methods. An exploratory analysis of data was performed using principal component analysis (PCA) and parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) in RGB histograms and matrices data, respectively, showing differences in the colour features since the fourth week of harvesting. In the case of the quantitative approach, high correlation was achieved between the histogram data, using partial least squares (PLS), and total chlorophyll content. In addition, between three-way matrixes and total chlorophyll content, good correlations were obtained applying unfolded-PLS (U-PLS) and N-way-PLS (N-PLS). The most accurate results were obtained on the green channel. Analytical parameters obtained were good, with determination coefficients (R2) higher than 0.91 for all models in the first and second-order multivariate analysis. In addition, relative errors of prediction (REPs) were lower than 12% in all models for the green channel. Therefore, the proposed method was a satisfactory alternative to destructive physiological and biochemical methods in the determination of total chlorophylls in plum samples. In the routine analysis, first-order multivariate calibration with PLS analysis is a good option due to the simplicity of data processing.0292Domínguez Manzano, Jaime, Monago Maraña, Olga, Muñoz de la Peña, Arsenio y Durán Merás, Isabel . Design/methodology/approach – In this study, an asset pricing model with six factors is used, and autoregression, heteroscedasticity and moving average are taken into account to extract the independent shocks of each variable. Subsequently, a causality in-mean and in-variance analysis is performed to test the influence of Google searches on financial market variables, specifically, to test whether there is an influence on the idiosyncratic returns of financial assets. Findings – Unlike most of the literature, the results show that Google searches on the name of listed companies have little influence on the trend and volatility of asset returns. On the contrary, these searches are shown to have a significant influence on trading volumes in the following week. Practical implications –When analyzing specific effects, such as the influence of Internet searches, on financial markets, it is necessary that the model must include financial properties (asset valuation models) and statistical characteristics (stylized facts); otherwise, the empirical results could be inconsistent, since, among other issues, statistical findingsmaynot be robust given autocorrelation and heteroscedasticity, and if an asset valuationmodel is not considered, the specific effect analyzed could simply be an indirect effect of a risk factor excluded from the model. Originality/value – The empirical evidence shows that individual investors using Google have a significant influence on volume only so that institutional investors using other sources of information drive market prices. This means that potential investors should only be interested in the Internet searches index if their interest is focused on trading volume0192González-Sánchez, Mariano . The analysis of superficial imprints proved that some grains were mechanically impacted before deposition. However, the percentage of grains with fresh surfaces and percussion marks was significantly lower than average values from other tsunami deposits elsewhere in the world. In this work, we discuss the reasons for such results in the context of the geomorphological setting of the areas analyzed and its influence on the microtextural signatures observed. The data presented in this study evidences a geographic dependence in the type of microtextures in the areas analyzed. For example, in Arauco the abundance of dissolution textures decreases rapidly towards the center of the embayment and increases towards the rocky headlands of its westernmost sector. By contrast, an increase of mechanical marks (e.g. fresh surfaces) is observed in the central region of the Arauco’s embayment. Similarly, in Mataquito, dissolution features are more abundant in the headlands or small capes, while there is a higher presence of mechanical marks in sandy embayments. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of the geomorphological context as a controlling factor in the intensity of mechanical imprints on the surface of quartz grains transported by tsunamis and deposited in the inner shelf and coastal areas. Therefore, our results suggest that without a detailed geomorphological contextualization microtextural discrimination can lead to misleading interpretations. Hence, there is a need for more microtextural analysis on tsunami deposits in order to assess the variability in the geographic distribution and intensity of microtextures imprinted on the surface of quartz grains deposited during a tsunami event.02862Costa, P.J.M., Rasteiro da Silva, D., Figueirinhas, L. y Lario, Javier . The study analyzes attitudes and needs of 424 teachers and it assesses teaching practices developed with Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Data is analyzed through mixed methods with various instruments using descriptive analysis, factor analysis and a detailed analysis regarding teaching practice from 21 cases. In conclusion, one third of teachers properly integrate Educational Technology into practice. Moreover 62% of teachers support the applied one laptop per child policy and have positive feedback in this regard, however two thirds of the teachers in the sample integrate technology with isolated activities, adapting persisting traditional pedagogical models. There are deficiencies concerning school performance, group work, problem solving and communication in learning activities. Therefore, students need educational guidance for the appropriate use of ICT in the learning process.02962Sáez López, José Manuel y Rodriguez Torres, Javier . The fact it has been preserved until now can be considered as fortunate since both anthropogenic and natural factors can cause its disappearance or deterioration. This is the reason why rock art needs special conservation and protection measures. The emergence of digital technologies has made a wide range of tools and programs available to the community for a more comprehensive documentation of rock art in both 2D and 3D. This paper shows a workflow that makes use of visible and near-infrared hyperspectral technology to manage, monitor and preserve this appreciated cultural heritage. Hyperspectral imaging is proven to be an efficient tool for the recognition of figures, coloring matter, and state of conservation of such valuable art.0242Bayarri, Vicente, Castillo, Elena, Ripoll, Sergio y Sebastián, Miguel A. . The Weight-Related Abuse Questionnaire (WRAQ) is an instrument specifically designed to measure weight-related abuse. The main goal of this research was to study the factor structure and measurement invariance of the Spanish version of the WRAQ in a non-clinical and a clinical sample. The clinical sample included 150 participants with obesity (60 % women) from the (masked for blind review) Hospital. The non-clinical sample included 301 students (79 % women) from the (masked for blind review) University. Scales to measure weight self-stigma and fear of gaining weight were used to analyze the convergent validity of the WRAQ. A confirmatory factor analysis showed that a two-factor model (verbal and physical abuse) was an acceptable fit for the data in both the clinical and nonclinical samples. Multigroup Confirmatory Factor Analysis revealed scalar measurement invariance by sample and gender. Cronbach’s alpha coefficients and composite reliability for both samples were found to be good, with values ranging from 0.83 to 0.96. Fear of gaining weight was correlated to verbal (r = 0.36, p < .01) and physical (r = 0.12, p < .05) abuse, and weight self-stigma was also related to physical (r = 0.21, p < .01) and verbal (r = 0.41, p < .01) abuse. These results suggest that the WRAQ can be used in clinical and non-clinical samples to assess verbal and physical abuse in both men and women.0562Magallares, Alejandro, Recio, Patricia, Jáuregui-Lobera, Ignacio, Benito del Valle, Pilar, Irles, José Antonio y Hymowitz, Genna . The starting point is a factorial panel datamodel which is subsequently modified to capture the climate impact through different functional forms. We find that relevant differences in default risk exist before and after the Paris Agreement. Our analysis also indicates that this difference cannot be explained by means of traditional financial factors. Finally, we further show that a climate change risk and opportunities label is a significant factor in evaluating credit risk, both prior to and post-Paris agreement. These results are important to the extent that they suggest that companies’ market performance itself allows to measure differences in credit risk between companies and to link them with climate risk factors. This approach may be useful as a complement or in combination with the traditional use of exogenous climate factors that have been widely used in the literature in this field.0792Ramos-García, Daniel, López-Martín, Carmen y Arguedas-Sanz, Raquel . The influence of the center-ring shape factor and type of assembly fit (interference and clearance), and the effect of friction on the compression force and ductile damage are comprehensively analyzed by means of a combined numerical-experimental approach. Results showed that the higher the shape factor, the lower the forces required, whereas the effect of friction is especially important for cylinders with the lowest shape factors. The type of assembly fit does not influence the compression force. The accumulated ductile damage in the compression of bimetallic cylinders is higher than in single-material cylinders, and the higher the shape factor, the lower the damage for the same amount of stroke. The highest values of damaged were found to occur at the middle plane, and typically in the ring. Results also showed that an interference fit was more favorable for preventing fracture of the ring than a clearance fit. Microstructural analysis by scanning electron microscopy revealed a good agreement with the finite element predicted distribution of ductile damage.0232Camacho, Ana María, Rodríguez-Prieto, Álvaro, Herrero, José Manuel, Aragón, Ana María, Bernal, Claudio, Lorenzo-Martin, Cinta, Yanguas-Gil, Ángel y <a class="citation_author_name" title="Navegar por nombre de Autor de Martins, Paulo A. After examining the main findings in the literature on the subject, the article analyses the data from the Eurostat Community Innovation Survey (CIS2012), in Germany, and conducts a quantitative study associating coopetition and innovation with a view to observing how coopetitive companies perform in the field of innovation and what characteristics they have. Amongst other findings, the results yield a certain relationship between international coopetition and cooperation with international clients in the public sector, and also governments and international universities, while at the same time showing less interest in collaborating with private partners when coopeting on a domestic level. The size of the firm, the location of the partners or the percentage of employees with a university degree, are just some of the factors that are incorporated into the analysis.0282Navío Marco, Julio, Bujidos Casado, María y Rodrigo Moya, Beatriz . As coopetition is usually studied from an inter-company perspective, this work looks in detail at the “ad intra” dynamics of the coopeting companies to understand how they adjust their organisation or implement organisational innovation to successfully adopt this original approach. Design/methodology/approach Using Eurostat data (CIS2014), this research offers a quantitative study on coopeting companies, relating coopetition to organisational innovation. The analysis technique used in this study is logistic regression with maximum likelihood estimation, where the dependent variable is the location of the coopeting companies. Findings The findings highlight specific characteristics and differences according to whether a company coopetes domestically or in other more complex geographic environments. It also incorporates variables into the analysis such as the use of price marketing, employee training and company size. Originality/value Our study provides insights into the relationship between coopetition and organisational innovation, in a research field that usually focuses on inter-company analysis. Several little-studied factors are included in the analysis, such as the role of employee qualifications and differences in coopetition in different geographic areas. We observe that, in certain locations, coopetition could be related to a “market entry” effect.0362Navío Marco, Julio, Ibar Alonso, Raquel y Bujidos Casado, María . However, the educational environments that employ them rarely provide teachers with relevant information that can be used to make an effective monitoring of the student learning progress. To overcome these limitations, in this paper we present IDEE (Integrated Didactic Educational Environment), an educational environment for physics, that uses EV3 LEGO Mindstorms R© educational kit as robotic component. To provide support to teachers, IDEE includes a dashboard that provides them with information about the students’ learning process. This analysis is done by means of an Additive Factor Model (AFM). That is a well-known technique in the educational data mining research area. However, it has been usually employed to carry out analysis about students’ performance data outside the system. This can be a burden for the teacher who, in most cases, is not an expert in data analysis. Our goal in this paper is to show how the coefficients of AFM provide valuable information to the teacher without requiring any deep expertise in data analysis. In addition, we show an improved version of the AFM that provides a deeper understanding about the students’ learning process.0262Orlando, Samantha, Gaudioso, Elena y de la Paz López, Félix . In this work, the combination of fluorescence and chemometrics was investigated as a novel quantification method of capsaicinoids in spicy food samples. The excitation–emission matrices (EEMs) of the two major capsaicinoids (capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin) were identical. Hence, the results were presented as the total content of capsaicinoids. The EEMs of a group of paprika, cayenne and chilli peppers, and of another group of spicy sauces were registered. The decomposition of the EEMs of each group was performed by parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC), obtaining three principal components in each case. After the decomposition, the component corresponding to capsaicinoids was identified by comparison with the profile of a standard mixture of capsaicin and dihydrocapsaicin. In addition, the score values of this component were correlated with the Scoville heat units (SHU) calculated by means of an HPLC–FLD method. Good correlations were obtained in both groups (0.998 and 0.992), confirming the assignation of the component to capsaicinoids. Subsequently, a calibration set was built to carry out the calibration in the spectrofluorimeter, using PARAFAC and U-PLS/RBL as second-order calibration algorithms. Good results for SHU determination were obtained in both groups with both algorithms and when the fluorimetric method was validated by means of liquid chromatographic analysis the relative error of prediction was less than 11.3%.0302Monago Maraña, Olga, Guzmán Becerra, María, Muñoz de la Peña, Arsenio y Galeano Díaz, Teresa . An analysis of the financial integration of vulnerable peoplebibliuned:DptoEA-FECO-Articulos-Jdparedes-0001The economic crisis has increased the inequality and heterogeneity of people at risk of social exclusion, and thus their financial vulnerability. This article reviews the literature on the determinants of unbanking and underbanking and proposes a model linking financial and social exclusion. We aimed to determine if people at risk of poverty and social exclusion are integrated -and to what extent- in the financial system. To answer this question, we identified the demographic and the social exclusion factors that determine both the status of financial vulnerability and the use of banking services. We used multivariate analysis methods to analyze the information from the survey on social vulnerability conducted by the Red Cross Spain in 2015. Our results show a negative relationship between the risk of social exclusion and the intensity of use of banking services. This leads to financial vulnerability and exclusion in the most extreme situations. We suggest that underbanking is the most relevant - but not previously studied- situation of financial vulnerability in Europe and discuss its implications for policymakers. This paper contributes to the measurement of the link between financial and social exclusion, and is the first quantitative study on the use of banking products by vulnerable people in a European context.0432Fernández-Olit, Beatriz, Paredes-Gázquez, Juan Diego y Cuesta-González, Marta de la . Relational frame theory suggests the existence of two main functional types of RGB termed pliance and tracking. In this paper, we describe the development of the Generalized Tracking Questionnaire (GTQ) and the preliminary evaluation of its psychometric properties and validity through three studies, with a total of 1155 participants. In Study 1, a pool of items describing the main characteristics of generalized tracking was designed and evaluated by experts on the RFT account of RGB. The resulting 11 items were administered to 460 undergraduates to examine the understandability and psychometric quality of the items. The exploratory factor analysis indicated that the GTQ can be seen as a unidimensional scale, with all items exhibiting high factor loadings and corrected item-total correlations. In Study 2, the GTQ was administered online to a sample of 464 non-clinical participants and a clinical sample of 125 participants. The one-factor model of the GTQ obtained a good fit in the conducted confirmatory factor analysis. The GTQ showed measurement invariance across gender and clinical and nonclinical participants. It also obtained excellent internal consistency and correlated in theoretically coherent ways with other constructs. In Study 3, the GTQ and a neuropsychological battery of executive functions were administered to 105 participants. The GTQ showed statistically significant, medium-size correlations with working memory tests, verbal fluency, planning, and behavioral inhibition. In conclusion, the GTQ seems to be a promising measure to advance in the empirical analysis of functional classes of RGB.0362<a class="citation_author_name" title="Navegar por nombre de Autor de Ruiz, F. These skills are also required for participation in e-learning, bearing in mind that the deaf and hard of hearing have certain characteristics related to their condition. This study aims to identify inequalities in access to e-learning by those who are deaf or hard of hearing, observe how they are related to social and demographic factors, and confirm whether the accessibility of the e-learning environment has a direct influence on their satisfaction. The study has been conducted via an electronic survey in Spain with a nonprobabilistic sample, in line with the characteristics of this sector of the population, recording social and demographic data, and information about the participants' experience of e-learning and their satisfaction with the experience. The representative survey sample consisted of 484 deaf and hard-ofhearing individuals in Spain, aged between 16 and 64. Using a chi-square test for independence we obtained a significant relationship between participation in online courses and the following variables: level of education, knowledge of sign language, and number of members in the household. A correspondence analysis was then carried out to detect particular relationships between classes of the related variables.05982Ferreiro Lago, Emilio y Osuna-Acedo, Sara . However, the traditional spatio-temporal variogram estimator, which is commonly employed for these purposes, is extremely sensitive to outliers. We approach this problem in two ways in the paper. First, new robust spatio-temporal variogram estimators are introduced, which are defined as M-estimators of an original data transformation. Second, we compare the classical estimate against a robust one, identifying spatio-temporal outliers in this way. To accomplish this, we use a multivariate scale-contaminated normal model to produce reliable approximations for the sample distribution of these new estimators. In addition, we define and study a new class of M-estimators in this paper, including real-world applications, in order to determine whether there are any significant differences in the spatio-temporal variogram between two temporal lags and, if so, whether we can reduce the number of lags considered in the spatio-temporal analysis.0442García Pérez, Alfonso . Case study: The European ECO Projectbibliuned:425-Sosuna-0007The European ECO Project has contributed to the dissemination of MOOCs by developing an educational model which promotes participation and interaction through social networks and an own virtual platform. Likewise, it fosters students’ empowerment by allowing them to create their own courses. Such training model is studied in this research work, firstly, through the analysis of teachers’ and students’ speeches posted on forum boards and groups. Then results obtained in several surveys conducted among participants, which consider interactions taking place both in and off the platform, are triangulated. Educational and motivational factors in the students’ profile show the advantages and disadvantages found in their perception of the collaborative learning model, as well as the empowerment derived from the participation in the creation of their own MOOCs. This study reveals multiple factors affecting the proper development of these courses, while considering communication as an incentive for the creation of knowledge through the MOOC itself. All this will contribute to improve the quality of education and to trigger a change of paradigm, necessary to understand today’s education and society.05942Osuna-Acedo, Sara, Gil Quintana, Javier y Cantillo Valero, Carmen . Unfortunately, social factors have usually been ignored in the process of selecting reviewers for online peer assessment tasks. We hypothesise that this fact could have some influence on the lack of engagement and participation by some learners. For this reason, we propose an approach in which social network analysis techniques, expert criteria, and Bayesian reasoning are applied to select reviewers with the objective of increasing participation in peer review tasks. The approach is divided into two elements. On the one hand, we have developed an influence diagram template that structures a set of proposed social network analysis variables in accordance with expert criteria. This influence diagram template can be easily updated for any course simply by eliciting a minimal set of parameters. On the other hand, we have instantiated the proposed influence diagram template to produce an influence diagram network to quantify the quality of reviewer assignment for an online peer assessment task. In an online experiment, we verified that the consideration of social factors can increase participation in a peer assessment task.0472Anaya, Antonio R., Luque, Manuel, Letón, Emilio y Hernández-del-Olmo, Félix . The first cMOOC and xMOOC models eventually evolved into different postMOOC modalities, such as sMOOC, which conjugates interaction among students with a participation model based on social networks. This work is focused on carrying out a systematic review of the state-of-the-art scientific literature referred to the concept of MOOC and its diverse types. Moreover, in this article, a new generation associated to sMOOC is unveiled: the tMOOC (Transfer Massive Open Online Courses). The methodology of study is based on the content analysis of those categories resulting after compiling 707 entries from Web of Science, plus an in-depth study of the 70 articles which were quoted at least 10 times. In addition, a case study has been carried out from European ECO Project’s “sMOOC step by step”, as an example of innovative pedagogical model based on collaborative learning to train future e-teachers. The results of the analysis show the very recent –and still scarce– research on the different types of MOOCs, as well as the finding of a new modality based on pedagogical transformation, learning transference and intercreative talent. As a conclusion, the analysis of all key factors in the configuration of tMOOC suggests a new taxonomy based on the 10 T’s.05622Osuna-Acedo, Sara, Marta Lazo, Carmen y Frau-Meigs, Divina . Quantification of PAHs in Smoked Paprika by Fluorescence-U-PLS/RBLbibliuned:DptoCA-FCIE-Articulos-Omonago-0013This study presents a strategy for differentiating paprika obtained by means of different drying systems. The differentiation is performed using spectroscopic fluorescence in combination with multivariate analysis. The two groups of samples (smoked or non-smoked paprika) are classified according to the content of some of their fluorescent compounds presented in each group, among which several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are included. These compounds are characteristic in smoked food. The full information of excitation–emission matrices (EEMs) is processed with the aid of unsupervised parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC), PARAFAC supervised by linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and discriminant unfolded partial least squares (DU-PLS). The last algorithm allows an adequate classification of unknown paprika samples. Besides, the quantification of several PAHs in paprika was performed by means of unfolded partial least squares with residual bilinearization (U-PLS/RBL). On this way, three (fluorene, phenantrene, and anthracene) out of the five (fluorene, phenantrene, anthracene, pyrene and chrysene) selected analytes were quantified.0302Monago Maraña, Olga, Galeano-Díaz, Teresa y Muñoz de la Peña, Arsenio . This study analyzes the potentially protective role of maternal educational selection into fertility in adverse macroeconomic contexts. We focus on the case of Spain, a country reaching record-high unemployment levels during the Great Recession starting in 2008. First, we examine whether selection into fertility of more educated mothers took place as province-level unemployment rates rose. Secondly, we assess whether maternal education mitigated the impact of higher unemployment levels on different birth outcomes. The analysis combines register data on the universe of live births with aggregate data on province-level unemployment. We cover the period 2007–2019 to ensure sufficient variability of unemployment rates and perform linear regression and linear probability models with fixed effects to hold constant unobserved heterogeneity across provinces. Findings indicate selection into fertility of mothers with university-level education in times of high unemployment. In addition, while unemployment rates did show an adverse impact on certain birth outcomes –birthweight, the occurrence of low and very low birthweight, and the risk of stillbirth – maternal education mitigated the observed relations. It was itself, moreover, consistently and independently associated with better perinatal health. We thus conclude that fertility selectivity by maternal education cushioned the impact of the adverse economic context derived from the Great Recession through two separate pathways.0452Seiz, Marta, Salazar, Leire y Eremenko, Tatiana . Method/Design: An initial pool of 110 items was developed based on previous literature and the results of a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews. The psychometric characteristics of the CDDS were examined in three samples of people with disabilities (each of which included participants with physical, visual and hearing impairments; total N = 590). Results: A final scale of 17 items was obtained. The factor structure of the CDDS was tested and replicated with an adequate fit (RMSEA = 0.056; GFI = 0.98; CFI = 0.98) using confirmatory factor analysis. The internal consistency of the four factors (positive thinking, social sensitization and support, adaptation, and avoidance) were adequate to excellent (with alphas ranging from .68 to .86). Conclusions/Implications: To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first coping scale that is specifically designed for people with disabilities, and it can be highly useful for both research and applied purposes.0292Pérez-Garín, D., Recio, Patricia, Silván-Ferrero, P., Nouvilas, E. y <a class="citation_author_name" title="Navegar por nombre de Autor de Fuster-Ruiz de Apodaca, M. La dificultad de realizar estos test manualmente conduce al desarrollo de técnicas automáticas de análisis de la seguridad. Assessment methodology of web applications automatic security analysis tools for adaptation in the development life cycle . 2014. Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (España). Quantification in paprika samples using spectrofluorimetry coupled to second order chemometric toolsbibliuned:DptoCA-FCIE-Articulos-Omonago-0009The influence of pH on the fluorescence of flavonoid compounds was investigated and the highest fluorescence emission was obtained in basic medium. Selected conditions to improve this signal were: pH 9.5, 0.14 M Britton Robinson buffer and methanol between 5% and 10%. The excitation–emission fluorescence matrices of a set of 36 samples of Spanish paprika were analyzed by means of parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC). Thus, the profiles of possible fluorescence components (PARAFAC loadings) were obtained. One of these profiles was identified by matching PARAFAC scores with LC analysis on the same samples. Two clusters of samples were obtained when score values were plotted against each other. Spectrofluorimetry coupled to second order multivariate calibration methods, as unfolded-partial least squares with residual bilinearization (U-PLS/RBL) and multidimensional-partial least-squares with residual bilinearization (N-PLS/RBL), was investigated to quantify quercetin and kaempferol in those samples. Good results were obtained for quercetin by this approach.0332Monago Maraña, Olga, Durán Merás, Isabel, Galeano Díaz, Teresa y Muñoz de la Peña, Arsenio . Besides, the implementation of production and consumption models based on the circular economy is becoming more and more important, where the repair and, for this purpose, the use of recyclable materials, is crucial. In this context, the analysis of a repair process is carried out by re-drilling Mg-Al-Mg multimaterial components using experimental design (DoE) based on Taguchi methodology, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) and descriptive statistics. The study concludes which are the significant factors and interactions of the process, comparing the results with previous similar studies, and establishing bases to determine the optimum thicknesses of hybrid magnesium-based component plates of drilled parts in the aeronautical industry, guaranteeing surface roughness requirements in repair and maintenance operations throughout their lifetime.0272Blanco, David, Rubio, Eva María, Sáenz de Pipaón, José Manuel y Marín, Marta M. . The increase of allergy cases and the severity of the reactions motivates the prediction of atmospheric concentrations in order to minimize the exposure to risky pollen levels. Also, it is of large interest for clinical institutions in order to apply preventive measures and plan in advance the implications of an increase number of allergy patients. Phenological and meteorological parameters characterize the stages of vegetation development during the growing season. Thus, they can be potentially related to the biological definition of plant phenology. In this thesis, time series of airborne pollen concentrations and meteorological variables measured at the region of Madrid were used to predict risk pollen concentrations for patients. Detailed relationships were established between future airborne concentrations, meteorological data, and flowering states derived from the inner information of the underlying data via computational intelligence models. Therefore, these data were used to develop predictive models for a range of forecast horizons. The proposal will be beneficial to the medical fields related with allergies affections planning and treatment, demonstrating that computational intelligence holds a great potential for aerobiology. In this research, we demonstrated several novel approaches that significantly contribute to the field of aerobiology including: (i) developing a computational intelligencebased model to predict risk concentration levels, and consequently the start and end of pollen season, for long term horizons up to 6 months, on which none of previous works succeed to obtain satisfactory results, (ii) identifying and characterizing the most influential factors which induce the presence of high airborne concentrations for a given set of horizons, using an assumption-free approach which supports biometeorological findings from other authors. The findings of the research are related to producing more accurate prediction models and providing a comprehensive analysis of the relationship of airborne concentrations with various meteorological parameters. As a product of this study, a version of Chapter 3 of this thesis was accepted and presented at the International Work Conference on Time Series Analysis (2016)1, and it has been selected to be extended and submitted as a book chapter in the Springer series Contributions to Statistics2. A version of Chapter 5 has been published as a full paper in the International Journal of Biometeorology3 and Chapter 4 is in preparation to be sent to an international journal for publication.0Doctoral Thesis3172Navares Echegaray, Ricardo. This has been explained in terms of late exposure to L2, although age of exposure and language proficiency are often highly correlated. We thus examined the relative contributions of these factors not only in L2 but also in L1 in a group of Spanish–English bilinguals for whom age of exposure and language proficiency were not highly correlated by recording event-related brain potentials (ERPs) to semantically congruous/incongruous words completing written sentences. We also divided our bilinguals into a Spanish-dominant subset who had late exposure and reduced vocabulary proficiency [as measured by Boston Naming Test (BNT) and Verbal Fluency Scores] in L2 (English) relative to L1 (Spanish) and an English-dominant group who had early exposure to both their languages although greater proficiency in English than in Spanish. In both groups, the N400 effect was significantly later in the nondominant than the dominant language. Although this slowing could be due to late exposure to English in the Spanish-dominant group, late exposure cannot explain the slowing in Spanish in the English-dominant group. Overall, we found that vocabulary proficiency and age of exposure are both important in determining the timing of semantic integration effects during written sentence processing—with vocabulary proficiency predicting the timing of semantic analysis in L1 and both age of exposure and language proficiency, although highly correlated, making additional small but uncorrelated contributions to the speed of semantic analysis/ integration in L20272Moreno, Eva M. y Kutas, Marta . A training program has been developed through an innovation project (PIMCD) to address the problem of the lack of university training designed to enable students to access reliable sources of scientific knowledge. A mixed questionnaire with a pretest-posttest design, applying a descriptive analysis, a factor analysis, and a Wilcoxon test was administered to students. The results show that it is essential to provide information and training to encourage university students to learn how to find and manage rigorous and reliable sources of information. While searching for academic information, Spanish students tend to focus on the use of Google and, to a lesser extent, Google Scholar. Although there are no significant limitations of access to Spanish language articles, students’ attitudes remain very positive towards the concept of open access. In short, in accordance with the study results, the promotion of educational activities relating to the search for and selection of information and the use of reliable and rigorous academic content is highly recommended in the university context.06132Sáez López, José Manuel, Ruiz Ruiz, Jose María y Cacheiro González, Maria-Luz . de la muestra analizada se sitúa en un
62,22%, siendo los usuarios de Centros de
Día y Residenciales los que presentan valores
más altos, debido fundamentalmente a
la dificultad para la realización de actividades
domésticas, la comunicación y la autonomía
personal.
Tipology of the dependence of people with
disabilities attended in residential care, day
centres and vocational training centres. The
aim of this study is to analyze the level of dependence
or need of aid of the people attended
in Residential, Day Centers and Vocational
Training Centers. The analysis includes the calculation
of the global dependence of the users
for each factor and type of center and the contrast
of differences among these last. As a consequence
of the study we appreciate that the
dependence of the sample analyzed is situated
in a 62,22%, being the users of the Day Centers
and Residential the ones that present
higher values, due fundamentally to the difficulty
for the execution of Domestic Activities,
Communication and Personal Autonomy. The
study carried out permits us to establish profiles

Design/methodology/approach – In total, 150 questionnaires were applied; the questionnaire was adapted from Food Choice Questionnaire (Steptoe et al., 1995). Data were analyzed by means of multivariate statistics with factor and cluster analysis. In order to identify statistical differences ( p o 0.05), Kruskal–Wallis and Mann–Whitney nonparametric tests were performed. Findings – Ten factors or motivations were found: social ecological concern, nutritional content, sensory aspects, certifications, naturalness, specialized consumption, trust in the seller, economic aspects, health and availability. Four groups were obtained and called: citizen consumers, in-process citizen consumers, conscious social consumers with no interest in certifications and conscious pragmatic consumers. It is concluded that differentiated consumers visit these establishments and their motivations are diverse, albeit they concur, to a varying extent, with the objectives of AFNs, finding a mixture of hedonic and ethical motivations. Practical implications – This sort of works about specific places of consumption as well as specific consumers, in this case ecological, contributes to the development of future social research on other contexts, different consumers and products. Originality/value – This sort of research has been carried out in various European cities, with a number of foods and over various sales channels; however, at present there is a debate around AFNs and the veracity of their goals. This way, the present work can contribute with an answer to whether the goals match the motivations of consumers.0732Escobar Lópeza, Sttefanie Yenitza, Espinoza Ortegaa, Angélica, Lozano Cabedo, Carmen, Aguilar Criadob, Encarnación y Amaya Corchuelod, Santiago . Keeping a non-traditional division of domestic work after first parenthoodbibliuned:FAC-CPYS-Articulos-0002This article analyzes changes in the division of routine domestic work after first parenthood. We wanted to know whether and how it was possible for couples to resist the trend towards traditionalization that has been shown in the literature. To do so, we analyze semi-structured interviews with 27 Spanish couples who were expecting their first child in 2011, and interviewed them again in 2013. The couples were selected from a bigger sample because of their non-traditional practices pre-parenthood. Our results show that 17 of them were able to maintain a non-traditional division of domestic work, whereas ten traditionalized. In our analysis, relative resources and time availability did not sufficiently explain the changes in the division of work, but specific characteristics of the division of work before childbirth –men’s active participation, the routinization of tasks and flexible standards- emerged as key factors to resist the trend towards more traditional arrangements08422Dominguez Folgueras, Marta, Jurado Guerrero, Teresa y Botíia Morillas, Carmen . In order to shed light on the questions involved, a longitudinal study of coda development in Northern European Spanish was carried out to explore the relationship between accuracy, markedness and frequency. The study analysed 8517 intended codas produced by two children from age 1;7 to 2;7. The main contribution of this study comes from the analysis of substitutions. The children produced more codas and more accurate codas in stressed syllables, particularly in word-final position before the age of 2, but after 2 years old their coda production was target-like in stressed medial position. They substituted phones in unstressed and in word-final position. It is argued that the most salient and frequent characteristics of Spanish syllable structure enhance coda development in the early years. Only after the establishment of the syllable structure do children focus on segmental quality, which results in target-like acquisition of Spanish codas following markedness predictions. Substitution patterns are independent of syllable structure: sonorant codas are substituted with a sonorant, and obstruents with an obstruent regardless of stress and position.0432Polo, Nuria . It compares quantitatively and qualitatively the electoral manifestos of four radical right parties —Vox, RN, UKIP, and Brexit Party—, and shows that borders are basic factors in the process of decontestation of “the people” and construction of exclusion-inclusion narratives. Likewise, this analysis exemplifies how (re)bordering claims are usually justified and articulated via populist discursive elements such as antagonism, morality, idealization of society, popular sovereignty and personalistic leadership. This article demonstrates that the border can become a method to study populism and vice versa and that crossfertilization between the borders and populism literatures is desirable. Further research is needed to understand whether populists’ selective instrumentalization of borders and equivalential logic leads to a non-binary hierarchical “othering” and the emergence of a populist “meta-us”.02082Olivas Osuna, José Javier . That spread or difference between the two prices is affected by fundamentals such as supply and demand as well as by political, social, environmental and macroeconomic risks, hereafter grouped under the term ‘financialisation factors’. Based on analysis of variations in the BUKHI50P stock index that monitors the impact of Brexit on UK companies, this study shows that in the context of a market shortage, Brexit-related macroeconomics and their effect on local companies are cointegrated with the structure of copper futures prices. Guidelines are also provided for traders on when to short- and when to long-sell to capitalise on the structure of copper futures prices under simultaneous market shortage and adverse macroeconomic circumstances.03702Galán Gutiérrez, Juan Antonio y Martín García, Rodrigo .
