This research analysed the case of a massive distance learning university that rapidly changed the final assessment (N=126,653 undergraduate students in 2020) from face-to-face exams to entirely online exams. The research focused on the influence of online assessment on academic performance and students’ perception of the new method. Two data sources were used: the contrast of academic performance indicators (assessment, success and achievement rates, and average marks obtained) between the online examination call and the previous ones with face-to-face examinations; and a questionnaire to a sample of students (n=714) on their perception of the online assessment experience. The results show that all the academic performance indicators in the 28 Bachelor Degrees offered at the university increased when the final assessment method turned to online due to the pandemic crisis; and that a majority of students are more favourable to online assessment methods. Eighty-one older adults voluntarily participated in the study, classified either as older adults with subjective cognitive decline or cognitively intact. Each participant underwent a neuropsychological assessment that was conducted both at baseline (entailing cognitive reserve, executive functions, WM span and depressive symptomatology measures, as well as the Mini-Mental State Exam regarding initial cognitive status), and then 6 months later, once each participant had completed the training program (Mini-Mental State Exam at the endpoint). The aim of this course is to bring the student closer to the professional electronic circuit design world .The methodology of this practical course is innovative. The educational resources used consist of a professional CAD tool for electronic design (Cadence), the use of English as the “official language” of the course, 8 practical cases, 3 competitive challenges among the students and Figure Of Merits (FOM) for the evaluation of these milestones. das tensões residuais em juntas soldadas de um aço carbono-manganês, quando submetidas a duas reparações
sucessivas por soldadura. Para isso foram utilizadas chapas de dimensões 400x180x11mm, as quais foram
montadas na forma de junta de bordos direitos, submetidas a um tratamento térmico de alívio de tensões
residuais e seguidamente soldadas topo a topo pelo processo MAG robotizado, usando duas camadas de
soldadura. Após a deposição das camadas de soldadura foram realizadas duas reparações sucessivas, também
através do processo MAG robotizado. As tensões residuais foram medidas após a deposição das camadas de
soldadura, bem como após cada reparação. As medições foram realizadas à superfície em linhas transversais ao
cordão e ao longo do seu eixo. Finalmente foram preparados provetes a partir do material da junta, nos quais
foram realizados exames metalográficos, medição de dureza e ensaios de tracção. Verificou-se que as
reparações induziram alterações ao nível da microestrutura, das propriedades mecânicas e do campo de tensões
residuais preexistentes na zona reparada. Ocorreram aumentos de estruturas refinadas tanto na zona afectada
pelo calor como, e sobretudo, na zona fundida. As reparações provocaram uma ligeira diminuição da dureza e
do limite elástico da zona fundida. Provocaram ainda, essencialmente na zona reparada, um aumento das
tensões residuais longitudinais e transversais. Porém, as tensões residuais não atingiram o limite elástico do
