Fasteners in the form of a «T» are items of fress seen in sculpture
dating from the iberian period. For many years, fasteners of his type which
are relatively rare, were only found in archaeological sites in the Península
itself.
In his study, we examine the recent discovery of these fasteners in two
Coastal sites, namely Cartela (San Roque, Cádiz) and Septem Fratres
(Cuenca), the first on the European side and the second on the African
side of the Straits of Gibraltar.
The existence of the these fasteners, along with other pieces of evidence,
go to prove that the Híspanles were indeed involved in fishing
activities on both shores of the Straits of Gibraltar at the time of the Romans.
The fact that these items of dress have bee found in Ceuta confirms
that the were sitill being uses at the time of the Román Empire.05962<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Villaverde Vega, Noé" href="/fez/list/author/Villaverde Vega, Noé/">Villaverde Vega, Noé</a> . arqueológicas realizadas en Ibiza en
los últimos veinticinco años, permiten
concluir que el proceso de
colonización de la isla se desarrolló
en dos fases claramente
diferenciadas: El primer
importante puerto comercial, pasa a
ser también un centro productor y
exportador, a la vez que quedará
vinculada al ámbito púnico liderado
por Cartago. De esta manera, en la
isla se forjará una formación social
púnico-ebusitana que, en los siglos
siguientes, experimentará un notable
desarrollo. Tras la segunda Guerra
Púnica, Ibiza quedará bajo dominio
romano como ciudad federada,
iniciando entonces un largo proceso
evolutivo, que la llevará a integrarse
plenamente en el Imperio, como
municipio latino, en el siglo i d.C.The archaeological research carried out
in Ibiza in the last twenty five years
allows US to conclude that the process
of the island's colonization in Antiquity
took place in two clearly different
phases: The first semitic settiement
was undertaken by western
Phoenicians and was related to the
expansión of the colonial circle of the
Straits of Gibraltar in the 7th century
B.C.. The second one, from the end of
the 6th century and throughout the 5th
century B.C., gave rise to the
establishment in Ibiza of new groups of
Punic settiers. This fact, together with
the growth of the existing population,
made possible an important urban
development and the occupation of the
whole of the island. In this way, Ibiza,
besides being a trading port, became
also an important producer and
exporter of its own goods, while at the
same time becoming integrated into the
Punic circle where Carthage played a
leadership role. Thus, a Punic-ebusitan
society was formed in the island, which
flourished in the following centuries.
After the second Punic War, the island
was left under Román's domination as
a federated town, at which point began
a long process of transformation which
lead Ibiza to its full integration in the
Román Empire, as a latín municipality,
in the 1st century A.D.06032<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Costa, Benjamí" href="/fez/list/author/Costa, Benjamí/">Costa, Benjamí</a> and <a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Fernández, Jordi H." href="/fez/list/author/Fernández, Jordi H./">Fernández, Jordi H.</a> .
