Naturaleza (Marduk, Heracles, Orfeo,
los Dióscuros, Odiseo, Eneas, etc.)
descendieron a los infiernos donde
todos tuvieron inolvidables
experiencias.
The idea of «catabasis», which means
the descent to Hell and later departing
it («anabasis» or resurrection),
appears in the funeral beliefs of almost
all civilisations since the remotest
antiquity.
Thus, worship of the dead has been a
feature since Neolithic (or last period of
the Palaeolithic) for both reasons of
hygiene and piety to the deceased.
Another funeral belief in antiquity
was the need to descend to
Hell when somebody wanted to speak
or to have some contact with the wise
men that were at the «netherworld».
So, the most important Gods of
Nature (Marduk, Osiris, Adonis, Attis,
Persephone) and the most famous
héroes (Theseus, Heracles,
Orpheus, the Dióscuros, Odysseus,
Eneas, etc.) descended to Hell,
were they all had unforgettable
sobrenombres referentes a municipios
o capitales de «ciuitates» suelen
llevarlos los Genios. En las provincias
galas, los epítetos alusivos a
comunidades locales acompañan,
sobre todas las demás divinidades, a
l\/larte. «Bandua» fue, por tanto, un
dios de carácter guerrero, protector y
defensor de las comunidades
indígenas que, después de la
conquista romana, quedaría como
divinidad tutelar del grupo social
residente en el núcleo poblacional. One of the main features of the votive
offerings to «Bandua» in Hispania is
that they allude to the god using
certain epittiets wtiich link him to
population centres, especially «uici»,
«pagi» or «castella». On the other
hand, the appellations refering to
towns or «ciuitates» capitals are
usually born by the «Genii». In Galia,
the epithets alluding to local
communities refer to Mars, above all
other gods. Thus, «Bandua» was a
warrior-like god who acted as protector
and defender of the indigenous cities
and who, after the Román conquest,
would be the guardián deity for the
social group living in the population

propone una interpretación del mito de
la Gigantomaquia como símbolo político
y sociológico de la evolución de la
ciudad griega. Está basado en fuentes
literarias y visuales que aparecieron
entre los siglos viii y ii a.C. El desafío
final a la autoridad de los Olímpicos
viene de los Gigantes, hijos de Gala,
nacidos de las gotas de sangre brotada
de los miembros emasculados de
Urano.
myth interpretation as a political and
sociological symbol in the Greek polis
evolution. It is based on literary
sources and visual arts created
between Vlllth and llth centuries B.C.
The final challenge to the authority of
the Olympians came from the Giants,
sons of Gala born from the drops of
blood that fell from Ouranos' severed
members. It was the subject on the
north frieze of the Siphinian Treasury
at Delphi and had a particular
importance on the eastern metopes of
the Parthenon (Acrópolis of Athens)
and on the altar large frieze at
Pergamon. The analysis intends to
throw some light on the Greek way to
understand their own history.09832<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Delgado Linacero, Cristina" href="/fez/list/author/Delgado Linacero, Cristina/">Delgado Linacero, Cristina</a> . tras la guerra de Troya, los personajes
femeninos (diosas o mujeres mortales)
gran ayuda. Pero siempre peligrosas
son las monstruosas Escila, Caribdis o
las Sirenas. Las imágenes en el arte
griego de estas figuras femeninas nos
muestran cómo los artistas no
siguieron siempre la tradición homérica
sino que pudieron inspirarse en otras
leyendas relativas al mar y a la
travesía del héroe Odiseo y ello
explicaría las ocasionales divergencias
entre los textos y las imágenes. On Odysseus' return to Ithaca after the
Trojan war, female characters
(goddesses or mortal women) have a
very significant role. Some of them
show a benevolent attitude towards the
hero, like Alhena or the young princess
Nausicaa; the others are femmes
fatales who attempt to detain the hero
on his journey to his homeland.
However, Circe and Calypso are
double faced: they are first dangerous,
next very helpful; but the monsters
Skylla, Charybdis and the Sirens are
always dangerous.
The representations in Greek Art of
these female figures show how artists
were not always inspired by Homeric
tradition, but they could have sought
inspiration from other legends related
to the sea and Odysseus journey, and
that would explain the occasional
contradictions between texts and
images.05462<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Aguirre Castro, Mercedes" href="/fez/list/author/Aguirre Castro, Mercedes/">Aguirre Castro, Mercedes</a> . Agrippa a partir de un nuevo fragmentobibliuned:ETFSerie2-D8F90C2C-9B83-5142-5523-88675B99FDC6La reciente identificación de un
fragmento escultórico con la
representación de un toro preparado
ornamentalmente para su sacrificio, que
se encontraba depositado entre los
fondos del Museo Nacional de Arte
Romano de Mérida, ha permitido
relacionar la pieza con el conocido
relieve de M. Agrippa en acción de
sacrificar, de esta forma se puede
completar el relieve en su parte derecfia
según se le contemple frontalmente. A
The recent Identification of a piece of a
sculpture with the representation of an
ornamentally prepared bull for its
sacrifice, which was among the
collection of the National Museum of
Román Art has made possible to relate
the piece with the famous M. Agripa's
relief in a sacrificing position, in this
way we can complete the relief in its
right part if we look at it directiy. Taken
this, the interpretative visión of the
work of art is revised, thus obtaining
verification that it is a typical sacrifice
destined to the Román imperial cult,
where very frequently we find either a
high ranking official or someone
belonging to the emperor's family, who
is in charge of offering up the animal
victim, a highiy symbolic and recurring
sacrifice, which, like in the present
case generally involves the ritual
killing of a a bull.05412<a class="citation_author_name" title="Browse by Author Name for Poveda Navarro, Antonio M." href="/fez/list/author/Poveda Navarro, Antonio M./">Poveda Navarro, Antonio M.</a> .
