Abstract

Digital Humanities projects raise numerous and complex issues regarding copyright and authors´rights. Researchers in Digital Humanities deal with works (texts, images, videos, music, etc) created by other authors who have rights over them, rights which have to be kept in mind and respected. These rights and linked obligations can become a barrier to set up a DDHH project. Simultaneously projects in DDHH use to be cooperative and collaborative which implies several people (from different institutions, professions and backgrounds) might be project authors and have rights over the project. This tends to generate problems which are sometimes difficult to manage due to legal barriers.

Both perspectives are challenging for DDHH researchers, projects and institutions and worthy of further discussion.
